Getting There
Maryborough is is around 2 hours northwest of Melbourne, on the
Pyrenees Highway. Melways 621, A11; VicRoads 58 D2
The nearest train station is Castlemaine, 50km from Maryborough.
Bike Specifications
All human powered vehicles are welcome, including standard bicycles, faired and unfaired recumbents.
The type of vehicle is unrestricted, except for the following:
-Vehicles must be safe and in good working order.
-No dangerous projections or open tube ends likely to cause injury. Exposed
chainrings at the front of recumbents must be guarded to prevent puncture
wounds.
-Vehicles are allowed to use energy storage devices only if they are charged
during the event from human power. Such devices must be fully discharged
before the event commences.
Multiple riders
If necessary, multiple users of the same bike may be
accommodated. Each rider must have a separate entry.
To keep the event within a reasonable timeframe we have set the following
limits.
Faired vehicles (40km/h+) – Maximum 4 riders
Unfaired vehicles (20km/h+)– Maximum 2 riders
Please adjust your entries accordingly if you are outside if these speed
ranges.
Marshals
To allow maximum participation, we are not requiring riders to provide
a volunteer.
For a safe event we require marshals at the following points; If you are
not riding, or if you plan to ride early or late in the event please consider
volunteering.
Homebush Rd Level Crossing, Avoca.
Crossing has no gates or lights. A marshal is required to ensure no trains
are approaching before riders cross.
North St/Sunraysia Hwy, Avoca
A marshal is required to assist riders to safely move info the traffic flow.
Chase Vehicles
Chase vehicles are not required for this event.
If a chase vehicle is used: A sign should be diplayed on the rear of the
vehicle with the words "CYCLIST AHEAD",
Hazard lights should be active when following a rider. Drivers are responsible
for following all road rules.
